LAPAROSCOPY
Laparoscopy, sometimes referred to as keyhole surgery or minimally invasive surgery, is a surgical method that allows the inside of the abdomen or pelvis to be seen with the use of a laparoscope—a narrow, illuminated tube equipped with a camera. Unlike traditional open surgery, which uses a single large incision, this method enables doctors to conduct a variety of surgical procedures using small incisions, usually ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters in length.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopy, sometimes known as "Keyhole" surgery, is a surgical procedure that makes it possible to observe and operate on abdominal viscera with a smaller than 1 centimeter incision. A tiny "Key hole" cut is made for the surgical telescope and camera.
The surgeon may also employ tiny instruments that are inserted into the belly through a second, tiny skin incision. The devices are used to grasp, biopsy, cut, and trim abdominal tissues. Some refer to this laparoscopic procedure as "keyhole surgery" or "minimally invasive surgery."
